Transportation of Dangerous goods

Course Description:

This course was developed to meet the training needs for all persons involved in the handling, offering for transport and/or transporting of dangerous goods.

In this module we will be following the required training elements identified in the TDGA regulations. This workshop is a pre-requisite for all the other TDGA courses.

COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Identify the basics of the legislation, the history, the act and the regulations, and defined legislated duties
  • List the classification system, nine classes of dangerous goods and their associated hazards
  • Recognize shipping names, classes, UN numbers and packing groups for the dangerous goods that are normally encountered on
  • he job
  • Learn about safety marks such as labels and placards that are used to identify the different classes of dangerous goods
  • Identify knowledge of the information that needs to be on the shipping document
  • List the requirements regarding mixed loads and the need for segregation of incompatible dangerous goods
  • Identify the methods to choose the proper means of containment
  • Know what to do if the shipping documents, placards, labels, other safety marks or means of containment seem inadequate or incorrect
  • Understand the proper use of all equipment that is used in the handling, offering for transport and or transportation of dangerous goods
  • List the dangerous goods needing Emergency Response Assistance Plans (ERAP)
